We are Team Wall-E, the 2013 UCSD SWE Team Tech! Meet our members.
Project Manager - Catherine Tan
Catherine is a second year Bioengineering: Bioinformatics from Lancaster, CA. She has always been fascinated with not only the science of human biology but also the advances in technology that strive for the improvement in life quality. She hopes to play a significant role in the field of Biomedical Engineering by developing anything that can help people and have an impact in society, and she aspires to become a Bioinformatician to contribute to genomic medicine. On her free time, she loves to explore her non-science side of herself by reading, watching movies, learning languages, and taking photographs.
Project Manager - Celine Liong
Celine is a third year nanoengineering student from the Bay Area. She is interested in applying nanotechnology to either medicine, specifically drug delivery or biomaterials, or energy storage. She is also part of the executive board for the Society of Women Engineers. Her favorite part of working with Team Tech is the multidisciplinary aspect of the project. She also enjoys the challenge of the project scope and the need for complex problem solving.
Computer Systems Sub-Team
Computer Systems Lead - Jorge Landaverde
Jorge Alberto Landaverde was born in El Salvador, he lived there until the age of 13 and then he moved to the Los Angeles, California in the United States. Unsure of where he wanted to study and what he wanted to major in, he chose Aerospace Engineering as his major at UC, San Diego. It wasn’t necessary for him to take any Aerospace Engineering class to realize that that major was not for him, and so he decide to pursue a career in Computer Science. It was love at first code, he finally found the perfect major for him. Besides his academic life, Jorge is an active leader within the Hispanic Engineers at UCSD. He is currently the President of the Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) and a Gordon Scholar. Lastly, his interests include watching anime, playing pool, and dancing salsa, merengue and bachata.
Computer Systems Lead - Parry Wilcox
Parry is a 4th year Computer Science major from San Diego with an interest in embedded systems and operating systems. She finds enjoyment in lower level processes and hopes to continue learning and exploring the field when she begins work in industry. She looks forward to the experiences and new knowledge she will gain while working with an interdisciplinary team. In her spare time, Parry enjoys racing to read books before their film adaptations appear in theaters.
Computer Systems Engineer - Huang Li
Huang is a first year Computer Science major from Corona, California. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at UCSD and planning on going to graduate school after college graduation. Her passion about computer science began with her early experience with those “magic boxes”. She is hoping that one day she could use her computer science knowledge and skills to change the world. She also likes hands-on projects and handcraft (e.g. stamp carving).
Electrical Design Engineer - Syed Enam
Syed Aziz Enam is a fourth year Electrical and Computer Engineering major from Irvine, California. Syed’s interest include applying machine learning and signal/image processing techniques to computer vision and sensor networks. He is excited to be part of TeamTech and to work on a multidisciplinary engineering project. In his free time, he enjoys making music and watching movies with friends.
Computer Systems Engineer - Eduardo Aguilar
Eduardo Aguilar is from a very small town named Wasco, California. He is currently a sophomore and is a computer science major. He also plans to minor in math. Although Eduardo chose computer science blindly, he has come to like it very much. He is very interested in the field and loves to learn new things related to it. If you get to know Eduardo, you will see that he is the type of person that is always trying to learn something new. Whether it's learning new things about a programming language or learning how to use a new application. Along with all of the computer science related things, Eduardo also finds great enjoyment in any concepts related to math. In fact, this is the reason why he is planning to minor in it. Aside from school, you will find that Eduardo also enjoys running very much. He was part of the cross country team all throughout his high school years and still goes for a run when he finds the time. Last but not least is his love from video games. Video games have always been a way to relax from Eduardo, and he still jumps on his Xbox to play some Halo when he has the time.
Mechanical Sub-Team
Mechanical Design Lead - Ben Lopez
Ben is a senior mechanical engineering student from Monterey, California. He is involved in UCSD's SHPE and Formula SAE as well as Team Tech. Ben plans to use his engineering knowledge to develop leading technology in the field of motorsports, robotics, or electronics. Aside from the field of work after college, he aspires to become largely involved in community outreach. He is enthusiastic about working with teams like SWE Team Tech to develop industry projects.
Mechanical Design Engineer - Andrew Huang
Andrew Huang is a third-year chemical engineering student at UCSD. He is interested in studying carbon-based nanotechnology in the future. He is extremely interested in the real-world applications of graphene and carbon nanotubes. Outside of school, Andrew likes to watch and play basketball and baseball with his friends. He also likes to watch TV shows and movies.
Mechanical Design Engineer - Michelle Kwong
Michelle is a third year Engineering Sciences major from the Bay Area who is also pursuing an Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts minor. She enjoys hands-on projects and is interested design and manufacturing. She is excited to work with a multidisciplinary engineering team and gain real world experience working on an industry project. Michelle is also an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity.
